encouraged to be faithful
generational faithfulness tells His story of hope and spiritual formation in family.
I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also. For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:5-7
i have many wonderful roles and titles. but the greatest of all is mother. i am thankful for my mother and grandmothers. they have lived lives: of amazing sacrifice for others, sharing their gifts with their neighbors, loving the lost generously, and placing me on path of the divine.
we will tell the next generation
the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord,
his power, and the wonders he has done.
a beautiful mingling of stories is happening for my daughters’ generation. stories being told and lived out through their mother, aunts, grandma, and grandmothers are fanning the flame of faith in them. how do i know? my daughters shared it with my in their hand written mother day cards.
you’re always there for me. looking out for me and taking care of me.
you stand up for me. you love me and make sure I am happy.
you keep my safe and provide for me.
you comfort me if I’m sad and you never give up on me.
if something happens between my friends. you help us work it out.
thanks for being such an amazing mom. –Lina 12
i can’t put down in words how much i love you, but i will try. mom you are the best thing that has happened to me. mom, you are God’s best disciple in the world. thank you thank you God for you. you’re the wind beneath my wings. — Belle 11
i am so thankful my girls see my life and the story He is telling through me as mother in unison with Him. i am thankful i can cry out to God for help. thankful i can ask for his wisdom. thankful his love covers my weakness with his strength. may he continue to put into me a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline.
